Hulett, WY, is a gateway to Devils Tower National Monument and more of northeast Wyoming’s natural splendors. The charming town is also a popular stopping and lodging point for motorcyclists on their way to the annual summer rally in Sturgis, SD. Whether you’re passing by with a family, on a motorcycle, enjoying the outdoors or visiting the region in general, stopping into Hulett is a must-do. There, visitors will find an array of local options for drinks, meals, and snacks.
“I think one of Hulett’s biggest draws is its uniqueness,” said Amanda Galliway, owner of the Busy Bean coffee shop in town. “It has that old-time, small-town feel that you don’t find everywhere anymore.
“It’s a beautiful place, and the people here are incredibly friendly. I think that combination – along with the nearby attractions – gives people a great reason to stop and experience something a little different.”
The Busy Bean
Galliway, an Iowa native, moved first to Gillette, where she met her husband, Curtis, before the two then relocated to Hulett in 2019. Four years later, the Busy Bean was born. Since then, it's been both a welcoming gathering place for locals and visitors alike and a provider of unique delights.
Among other things, Galliway is ready to whip up classic espresso drinks like lattes and macchiatos, Red Bull infusions, shaken teas, smoothies, and Italian sodas for all her visitors.
“The Busy Bean started from a desire to create a place where people could come and enjoy a variety of drinks and friendly conversation,” Galliway continued. “We’ve been operating since 2023, and it’s been a really rewarding experience building something local and getting to know both residents and visitors.
“One thing that makes our menu unique is the variety. I especially enjoy creating monthly drink specials, whether it’s highlighting a seasonal flavor or experimenting with new combinations. That’s probably one of my favorite parts – getting creative and giving customers something new to try.”
Unsurprisingly, Galliway can count on a group of regulars to pop in and out of her doors year-round. But the upcoming summer tourist season brings a big boost to business.
“Our traffic at least doubles,” Galliway said. “It gets busy, but it’s also a lot of fun. I really enjoy meeting people from all over and hearing their stories.”
