Jeremy Torrez, owner of iSpy Inspection LLC in Gillette, WY, doesn’t have one type of customer or a single kind of structure he routinely inspects.
Torrez conducts inspections all over the State of Wyoming, from Sheridan to Douglas, Newcastle and the South Dakota border. Wherever he goes, the jobs and people vary.

“It’s all over the place,” Torrez said. “One day I’ll be doing the Governor’s Mansion and the next day I’ll be doing a trailer park. It’s different every day to every week. In fact, I just got done talking with the folks from Salvation Army, who are trying to add on to an 18,000-square-foot building. Something like that pops up, and then I may do an 800-square-foot house after that.”

Torrez can attest to a wide spectrum of buildings at which he’ll do standard inspections at both residential and commercial properties. He might check for mold or inspect sewer lines. Radon, a naturally occurring radioactive gas in Wyoming, is also something he is always on the lookout for during inspections.

While the type of inspection, property, and customer might differ by day, Torrez’s approach – getting jobs done with precision and speed – does not.

“We like to be a one-stop shop and cover all the bases and not have to call in a bunch of folks or extend deadlines,” Torrez said. “We don’t like to disrupt people who are selling six or seven times.”

iSpy Inspection, which Torrez has operated since 2021, currently has three employees, including Torrez. But he’s eyeing expansion into the South Dakota market, and with steady business comes the opportunity to increase his footprint and bring on more personnel, with hiring locally being a priority for Torrez.

Fueling those aspirations is Torrez’s customer base, which he knows has his back.

“There’s a lot of support,” Torrez said. “If you’re out there to do an honest day’s work, there are a lot of people who will support you. I deal with a lot of realtors, appraisers and homeowners who have been in their homes for 30 years. Community support is the best thing about Wyoming. It’s a very supportive area if you want to work and if you want to do the right thing.”

Torrez maintains certification with the International Association of Certified Home Inspectors (InterNACHI), which requires him to complete 24 hours of annual continuing education to remain accredited.

Such certification is not required in the State of Wyoming, but Torrez goes the extra mile to stay at the top of his game.

“I just choose to be,” Torrez said. “I think that’s something that you really need to do. The realtors and everyone involved in the process are, so it’s something I felt like we should be, as well.”

Additionally, whereas other regional inspectors are often part-time, iSpy and doing inspections are Torrez’s full-time occupation.
Whatever the job, Torrez stands by his expertise and reputation, taking pride in serving a diverse client base.

“You’re going to get an honest day’s work when you come hire us to do your inspection,” Torrez said.
