Pinehaven, Wy: More than a Beautiful Place to Live!

Pinehaven is a peaceful and charming community in one of the most beautiful and tranquil settings in the state. Bordered by Keyhole Reservoir on three sides and nestled in an abundance of pine trees, birds and wildlife, it is an idyllic spot to visit or live.

HISTORY

Pine Haven is a relatively young town, going back only to the 1960’s when families began buying up ten-acre tracts in the area. The Keyhole Reservoir had been formed by completion of the Keyhole Dam in 1952. The townsfolk  voted for incorporation in 1986, with the first mayor and council voted on in 1987.

LIFE ON THE WATER

Life in Pine Haven is dominated by the reservoir, 9,000 surface-acres formed by the Keyhole Dam on the Belle Fourche River. The Keyhole Marina provides a boat launch for skiing and fishing for abundant walleye, bass, northern pike and catfish. Keyhole State Park sits along the southeast shore and offers areas for camping, picnicking and other group events. Many species of resident and migratory birds can be seen throughout the Park and Reservoir, along with pronghorn antelope, mule deer, fox and turkey.

Golf enthusiasts enjoy the Keyhole Country Club, a nine-hole public golf course located in the middle of town.
