The Broadband Advisory Council is seeking public comment on a draft plan for making Wyoming a leader in the digital world by ensuring every citizen and business has access to affordable, reliable, redundant and future-proof broadband internet.
Public comment on the 18-page report is open until Aug. 20. A copy of the report can be found at www.wyomingbusiness.org/broadband.
A final broadband enhancement plan is due to the Wyoming Legislature and the Economically Needed Diversity Options for Wyoming executive Council by Sept. 1.
State legislators established the 11-member Advisory Council in spring 2018. That legislation called for the Advisory Council and the Wyoming Business Council, the state’s economic development agency, to map existing broadband availability and speeds and champion policies that remove barriers and promote new broadband development.
The draft plan recommends leveraging public-private partnerships, assessing regulations, evaluating funding sources and integrating emerging technologies.
