Gillette business owner wins Small Business Person of the Year Award

WASHINGTON (Gray DC) -- Gillette entrepreneur Tyler Reed Miller proudly holds his shiny new award.
He’s 2018’s Small Business Person of the Year from Wyoming.

“I was flattered to win it. In Wyoming, there’s a lot of tough competition," said Miller.

Miller took over Earth Works Solutions — a nearly 50-year-old construction company — back in 2006. The 60-employee company has grown from mining contracts to producing an aggregate material that’s added to asphalt and concrete for safety.

“It’s a unique product. Our competition comes out of China. So just being innovative has led us to that," he explained.

Small Business Administrator Linda McMahon, who handed out awards to small business owners in all 50 states, Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico, says the winners showed innovation, growth, and commitment to the community.
